Your wedding Kanjeevaram or your mother’s Banarasi isn’t just clothing — it’s family history. Here’s how to keep it safe.
1. Let it breathe
Never store silk in plastic. Use breathable non-woven or cotton saree covers that keep dust out but let air in.
2. Refold every few months
Zari can crack along permanent folds. Refold your sarees along different lines every 3–4 months.
3. Store one saree per cover
Stacking causes zari to snag on neighbouring fabric. Individual covers keep each piece safe — and make it easy to find the one you want.
4. Skip the naphthalene
Use neem leaves or cloves wrapped in muslin instead — they repel insects without staining silk.
